For example, Suleiman and the Shah Abbas made the mistake of murdering all their able sons and brothers. In the end a weak grandson rose to the throne and slowly killed the Empire.

Fratricide is something our modern society will never understand. However from this, we can infer many things. The immense desire to seize power, even by killing your kin, can prove that the power was centralized to much. Centralization of power also proves the large population rulers would be able to control.
